A Taste of the Industry🥃

Evolution Trade Show 2024 After the completion of my internship at Whyte & Mackay,  I was given the opportunity to join my team at the Morton’s Evolution Trade Show at The Platform in Glasgow -  an invite-only event that showcases the latest innovations and trends in the food and beverage industry.  This was my first time attending an event like this and I had a great time!  I met loads of passionate spirits' enthusiasts and it was a great opportunity to network with people within the industry and learn about brands I'd never heard of. I thought it would be interesting to experience a distillery tour since I was  working with a whisky company to gain a deeper insight into how the products I was working on are created. For my first-ever distillery experience, I visited Auchentoshan - a Single Malt Scottish Whisky brand. This was also his first distillery experience which made it even more exciting!  This brand is not owned by Whyte & Mackay, however, the distillery is local to where I live so my dad and I decided to visit! Since we had very little knowledge, we booked the Origin Tour (the perfect introduction). Since completing an internship with Whyte & Mackay, I have become totally fascinated with the industry and all things spirits! As a young woman who doesn’t particularly enjoy drinking alcohol (especially whisky!), it was great to have the opportunity to learn and view the industry from a different perspective. Whilst working at Whyte & Mackay, I had the opportunity to work with knowledgeable professionals who provided me with brand-new information about the company as well as the spirits industry.  During the first week of the Internship, all the interns attended several brand induction meetings presented by the Brand Managers. They each gave us an overview of their brand which I found very interesting as each brand is unique.  Whyte & Mackay's portfolio is made up of a variety of well-known brands such as Jura, Tamnavulin, Fettercairn, The Dalmore and The Woodsman, along with many more! Last summer, I completed an Internship with Whyte&Mackay, a Scottish Whisky company which  allowed me to explore a new industry which I have fallen in love with! My First Day... The Internship was based at St Vincent Plaza in Glasgow. This was my first time working in an 'office job' and  as a young student who is used to working in part-time retail jobs, it was a whole new experience - but I loved it! However, I wasn't in the office 5 days per week.  My role was hybrid which means I also worked from home a few days every week - I also loved being able to work from home!
